We flew back to Toronto for a 2-week visit. Everyone except for my grandma knew of our planned trip. Mom's surprise for grandma initially had 3 phases: (1) Leave a treat on the kitchen counter to leave grandma wondering how it got there, (2) Release the hound (aka me) to stir up confusion, and finally (3) Release the beasts (aka mom and Peter) to wrap up the surprise.
Leave it to me to get a jump start on my part - it was too difficult for me to contain my excitement which led me to run out prematurely, before phase 1 could be executed. Grandma was still very much surprised and admitted to thinking she was hearing and seeing my ghost. Mission successful.
